Artificial Intelligence is no longer just a tool embedded in isolated applications. It has become an increasingly invisible yet powerful infrastructure that shapes how we work, collaborate, make decisions, and organize society. This development raises urgent questions about the future design and governance of sociotechnical systems.
The 2026 Sociotechnical Systems Round Table Conference invites researchers, practitioners, and interdisciplinary experts to contribute to the discussion on how sociotechnical systems can be responsibly designed and transformed in an AI-pervasive world.
Topics of Interest
We welcome theoretical, empirical, and practice-oriented contributions on topics including:
- Human-centered design in AI-supported value creation
- Transparency, accountability, and fairness in AI-infused systems
- Sociotechnical requirement engineering for next-generation Human-Centered AI
- Governance and regulation of AI-related risks
- The impact of AI on work design, participation, and human autonomy
- New methodologies for designing adaptive sociotechnical systems
Contributions from fields such as information systems, organizational studies, sociology, HCI, engineering, psychology, and design research are encouraged, provided they connect explicitly to the sociotechnical systems tradition and its future perspectives.
